Well, we never thought we would see the day. Broly is to become canon in the next installment of the Dragon Ball universe. Dragon Ball: Super has long ended and just before the last episode, we were made aware that there will be a movie, set in the same universe, and will be canon.
Broly has been a long time favourite in the anime, however, has never been canon. A lot of fans cried out to get him to be canon, some even going as far as to confirm he is through conspiracies and other means, but at long last, we don’t have to argue. He will become canon. And now I am super excited.
A few hours ago it was announced via Toei Animation going live on their Twitter channel confirming the huge announcements. The next movie title has also been confirmed to be Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Even Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, has come out to make a statement also.

Right now, Broly fans, I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but Akira pretty much changes the story of Broly. Check out what Akira had to say:
“So, about Broly. I hear these days, he’s still very popular not only in Japan but also overseas. Based on that, my editor suggested we have Broly appear in this next movie,” Toriyama wrote.
“I went ahead and watched the movies from back then, and I felt this could be quite interesting once I rearrange some things. I got right to work trying my hand at a story that incorporates him into the Dragon Ball Super series.”
You know what? I’m happy they’re changing his story to fit the anime. Maybe he hasn’t met Goku/Kakarot yet. Who knows, but I’m excited for more Dragon Ball!
