Normally getting tech through the door we do a full review of the equipment. With this one, we’re going to review it and explain why exactly you need it. Yes, there is a little bit of pressure on this and you will see why exactly you need it. We’re discussing the clever little piece of kit, the SanDisk iXpand.
The iXpand comes in different sizes from 16GB all the way up to 256GB. It isn’t your typical USB though. The iXpand has a USB and a foldaway lightning port for your iPhone or iPad. Oh yes, you can store all your iPhone/iPad data on this USB and plug straight into your PC. Saving so much time in sorting iCloud and having to set up your Apple device on PC to port all your stuff you want over. It also saves you money on the ever-growing iCloud back storage you long for.
The size of the iXpand is small and compact. The size of your typical USB with a little loop so nothing big and out of the way. All you do is plug in, have the app installed and literally is it. You can set up the app to automatically install and backup your new stuff and keep on top of it. Something you can take everywhere with you.
If you’re a techy type of guy and want to know the insides and out’s of the iXpand, I did test it out with some large and small files and the speed of writing is around 65Mb/s making it quite good for quick back up of files if you’re in a rush. This makes it perfect for budding photographers and also streamers/YouTubers that like to create and vlog on the go giving extra stability to your work, giving that peace of mind that your work is safe if anything were to happen.
When testing it out for the past week or so with the use of iPhone, iPad and PC usage I came across no major hiccups. At first, I did set up a format to the old version of FAT32 but after that no issues what-so-ever. I travel a lot and it came in handy when wanting to watch a long movie that requires so heavy storage that my iPhone X with all its current data couldn’t store, this was the perfect way of doing it.
Overall, this little piece of equipment you don’t even know you’re carrying it’s that small can be used so often and frequently, it’s one of those things that you say “You don’t know what you’ve got till its gone”. It was just that, I don’t need to expand my storage of iCloud, I just plug and go and that’s my setup. Because of that, I couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s something that goes under the radar that everyone with there Apple device that cannot be expanded requires.
You can pick up the SanDisk iXpand now from your local computer stores or online retailers such as Amazon and Currys. (Varies in price depending on the model you pick up).
